COVER ART: ALBUM 'BE' OF BTS
About
‘BE’ is BTS’ fifth studio album, including eight different-genre tracks, released on November 20, 2020. In the scene of the COVID-19 pandemic, the group composed the album from their own experience and feeling during the process of production. ‘BE’ was described as “a letter of hope”, the album has reached the deep-down feeling of each individual and to give love and joy.
This personal project aims to promote the album on social media by previewing each track’s melody and lyrics. The cover art was inspired by lyrics explained clearly below.

#Track 01: Life Goes On
With the theme “goes on”, I illustrated life as “a ball” - keep bouncing and moving forward no matter what happens. Orange, combined yellow (happiness) and red (vitality), was chosen to be the main color to present the energetic still stay in human and the positive change will happen.
#Track 02: Fly to my Room
Spending most of the time in the bedroom in the lockdown is not an unfamiliar thing now. By this, I illustrated the lyrics with a room covering in blue (sadness and restlessness) and the text colored white with a blur effect. The wing was for ‘fly’ to explicitly explain the title.
#Track 03: Blue & Grey
The palette was inspired by the track title. The scenery is a view near the sea in cold winter. This kind of scenery was pretty common in BTS’ HYYH era and used to visualize the feeling of sadness and loneliness.
#Track 04: Skit
The audio was recorded after BTS got to know their very first No.1 on Billboard Hot100 with ‘Dynamite’. It explained the gradient I used for the text, which is the color of Hot100. Also, I placed their record below to explain clearly the content of this track.
#Track 05: Telepathy
The initial concept for this cover art is soundwaves. I searched through the internet about “telepathy” and received most of the results were a look-like-helmet thing with the antenna.
Two different shapes of the antenna are represented two different individuals, they connect and have a “telepathy”. The television in retro style is the ‘pandora’ containing all things two mentioned people shared with another.
#Track 06: Dis-ease
This track describes a feeling of uncomfortable and anxious by hearing people’s talks and thinking too much. Therefore, we could think we’re sick. To “cure” those feeling, we need to express - to put negative comments and feeling into a bottle and throw them away.
#Track 07: Stay
BTS describes that “Stay” is about the strong connection between people or BTS - ARMY, we will reunite after being far apart. From that, I used a torn paper to illustrate the period of separation and the tape representing that everything will go back to its normal.
